I’m Matthew, a Toronto cook trained at Stratford Chefs School. Before that, I spent summers as a cook in Manitoba at a fishing camp, was host of an entertainment brand online, worked at several restaurants in Toronto, and enjoyed several years on a tall ship cooking three meals a day for crews of up to 28 people on a tight budget. That taught me how to make simple food feel generous.
Burpee Baskets is my idea for a picnic basket, delivered to you in Toronto. Inside: cheeses, charcuterie, and a few accompaniments like preserves, jellies and jams, local where I can find them. Medium and Large baskets come with a blanket. Once you’ve had the basket, you can order a refill.
Where things stand: This site is a work in progress. You can look around, see the baskets I’m planning, and join the waitlist. I need testers! Nothing is charged, and I’ll be in touch to confirm details.
